Youth Book Lists

This curated collection of booklists emphasizes representation, inclusion, and #ownvoices to highlight diverse voices within the SHARE collection. These titles offer unique perspectives and can be a powerful tool for fostering empathy and understanding in readers.

How to make the most of this resource:

  1. Explore the Columns in Each List: Recommended age, reading level, specific representation, owning libraries, and additional notes are included to assist in simplifying your search. Each title is linked to the SHARE catalog location.
  2. Check Tabs for Additional Resources: Tabs at the bottom of each spreadsheet have additional sources of information, such as titles available through WISCAT (Wisconsin interlibrary loan system), catalog search terms, and prominent publishers.
  3. Further Exploration: While these lists are a great starting point, SHARE holds many other books with inclusive and diverse representation. Please keep checking this page for updated and additional lists.
  4. Promote Diversity: Consider discussing these lists with your patrons to help them discover new books. You might even create displays or themed reading lists that align with the curated collections, making it easier for patrons to explore inclusive and representative works.

If you need help finding specific books or additional ways to promote these resources to your patrons, have new titles to add, themes to suggest, or booklists to share, please contact Kate Davis, PLLS Youth Programming Consultant, at kdavis@prairielakes.info.
